Thomas Evensen (Tom), age 88, passed away peacefully at home in Choteau, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 of natural causes incident to age.
Tom was born in Choteau on August 5, 1930 to Kristian and Oline Evensen. He graduated from Big Fork High School followed by 4 years of service in the Navy. Tom married Fava Pearson on June 6, 1958; they were married for 60 years. Tom is survived by his wife, Fava Evensen; their five children Sally (John) Jenson, Julie (Jack) Stott, Chris (Roxann) Evensen, Karla (Brent) Bateman, and Lars (Jeni) Evensen; 17 grandchildren Christian (Amanda) Jenson, Elizabeth (Kyle) Poulsen, and Nicholas (Larissa) Jenson; Quincy (Monica) Stott, Joshua (Courtney) Stott, and Tanner Stott; Katie (John) Adams, Kevin (Lindsey) Evensen, Erik (Tara) Evensen, Tyler (Michaela) Evensen; Amanda (Tyler) Evans, Beau (Lindsay) Bateman, Spencer Bateman, Tucker Bateman; and Stokton Evensen, Arden Evensen, Warwick Evensen; and 15 great grandchildren.
Tom was a self-employed earth moving contractor and dry land wheat farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, and flying. He served his family, fellowman, church, and community on many boards including school, airport, Skyline Lodge, Teton Hospital, Teton Pass.
Most of all, Tom leaves a great legacy of devotion to his family, a gregarious loving nature, good humor, generosity and an active full life.
The funeral service will be held Monday, December 3, at 11:00AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Choteau. Visitation at the church begins at 10 am. Burial will follow the service in Choteau Cemetery. All are invited to lunch at the Church following burial.
