Darlene Mae Beach, 70, passed away January 1, 2020 of heart failure and COPD at Marias Medical Center surrounded by family.
Memorial services will be Thursday, January 9, at 1:00 PM at Whitted Funeral Chapel. Burial to follow in Valley View Cemetery.
Darlene Mae (Porter) Beach was born June 13, 1949 on the Porter farm, presently Lake Shel-oole Park, to Raymond and Della Porter. Darlene married Donley S. Beach on January 3, 1968 and made Shelby their home. She was a CNA at the Shelby hospital until injured while lifting a patient. Darlene worked as a cook for Kathy’s Kitchen for 13 years until the restaurant’s closing. She went to work at Taco Bell until their closing. Darlene then went to work at a store, presently Noon’s Convenience Store, where she became assistant manager until her retirement in 2009. She went on to study and received her GED on August 31, 2009.
Darlene loved cooking, crocheting and knitting, making dolls, making blankets for the Shriner Hospital, camping and spending time with her family. She was an avid baker for the community. Darlene was president for the Ladies Auxiliary Post #2484 for 6 years.
Survivors include husband, Donley S. Beach; children, Lester (Anna) Beach, Francine (Dick Miller) Beach, Heidi (Bob Bleecker) Beach, and James Beach; grandchildren, Brian James Beach, Justin Ray Beach, Bryon (Cinnamon) J. Miller, Christopher J. Miller, Tyler Boyd Wiese, Keenan (Kelly) Adams, Krista (Josh Combs) Mcleod, Amanda Jo Adams, Ashley (Richard) Banta, and Anthony (Jackie Habets) Adams; great grandchildren, Rainbow and Michael Cartwright; brothers, James Porter and Ernie (Carol) Porter; sister, Francis Jacoby; brother-in-law, Fred C. Beach; nieces and nephews, Kathryn (Kraig) Holdren, Tim (Heidi) Porter, Debbi (Mike) Pederson, Patty (Kent) Rudolph, Dawn (Mark) Suta, Raymond Hughes, and Richard Hughes; great nephews, Jeremy (Marsha) Porter and David (Dawn) Rudolph; and great nieces, Kim (Jim) Woodring and Alyx Suta.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Floyd Porter; sisters-in-laws, Dorothy and Ginny Porter; nephew, Brian Keith Hughes; and brother-in-law, Robert Jacoby.
