Verlin Carl Salois

Verlin “Burton” Carl Salois was relieved of his pain when he passed on August 28, 2022 at the age of 69. He was born July 26, 1953 in Cut Bank to Jim and Irene Salois, the youngest of nine children and spent most of his life in East Glacier.

Verlin had many careers over his lifetime. He worked on the railroad, was a tribal police officer, worked in the oil fields, was a maintenance worker at the Glacier Park Lodge and for Browning Public Schools and his last career was a middle school shop teacher. He had the unique art of relating to middle school students and his students loved “Cabbage”.

He was also a hunter, a pipe maker and a very good baker.

He was the last surviving sibling in his family. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jewel (Dan)Gilham, Winnie Salois, Merle Salois, Elaine (Jule) Spang and Iona Salois; brothers, Eldon Salois, Galen Salois, Gerald Salois; nieces and nephew, Elaine Clayborn, Roberta Adams, Daniel Gilham, Linda Babcock, Wilber Spang and Gus Spang; and second mother/mother-in-law, Bernice Whitney. Devine, whom he cherished and loved to tease, also preceded him in death. Carlene and Verlin also had 4 children who never got to breathe here on earth who he is now reunited with.

He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 38 years, Carlene Salois. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

His wake will be Wednesday starting at 4:00 at Old Eagle Shields.     Funeral mass will be held on Friday September 2nd at 10:00am at the Little Flower Parish. Burial to follow at the Schildt cemetery. Memorials may be made to the FAST Food Program in Browning.

Verlin was known for his patience, wit and quick sense of humor. His goal in life was to make others laugh and loved repeating back his antics and stories. He put smiles on many faces and will be greatly missed.
