On the morning of Jan. 4th, 2022 Richard Herschman was reunited with the love of his life, his wife Lynne. He passed away peacefully of a broken heart at Logan Health in Cut Bank.

Dick was born Dec 15th 1938 to Antone and Ann Herschman on the family farm in the Mission Valley. He was raised and graduated high school in the Valley.

After high school he joined the Army. He was stationed at McGregor Range in New Mexico, where he worked with Ajax defense missiles.

In July 1960, he came back to Montana, and on July 9th, he married his sweetheart, Lynne Davis, in Polson. Soon after the wedding, Dick and Lynne moved to El Paso Texas, where he finished his stint in the Army. After leaving El Paso, they moved to Stockton, Ca. where he went to work for PG&E. A few years later, they moved back to the Mission Valley and took over the farm from his patents, where they continued to raise sheep.

They later sold the farm and moved to Polson, where Dick worked at the plywood mill. He then worked at the Gambles store until 1974, when the family moved to Cut Bank. He worked with his brother, Herb, in construction, until going to work for Union Oil. He ran the gas plant at the Reagan Camp until his retirement.

Dick was always active in his kid's lives. Whether it was being a baseball coach and umpire, to scouts, or football, he was at every event.

Dick had an amazing green thumb, and many in the community were blessed with his famous tomato plants. He was also an avid fisherman. Especially after retiring, a lot of time was spent on the boat in the water. He joins his fishing buddies, Big Guns, Walter B, Jess, Danny, Jerry, Mac, and Dave.
