Larry R. Snyder

June 26, 1933 — June 18, 2021

Shelby/Columbia Falls

Laurence (Larry) Robert Snyder entered heaven on June 18, 2021, to be reunited with his departed family.

Larry was born in Cut Bank, on June 26, 1933, to Robert and Teresa Young.  He was adopted by his father, Donald Snyder, and was raised in Cut Bank, Gilford, and Shelby.

Upon graduating from Shelby High School, Larry enlisted in the Navy and served his country for four years.  While stationed in Milwaukee, he met and married the love of his life, Ruth Lucht, and together they had six children.

Larry was a deputy sheriff before working for the State GVW, retiring as a supervisor in Columbia Falls. Larry was a devoted Catholic, and he enjoyed serving the community by volunteering for Shelby’s Fire Department, Toole County Ambulance, Toole County Search and Rescue, and teaching hunter safety. Some of his passions included scuba diving, airplane piloting, and singing with the Troubadours.

Larry is survived by his brother, Donald (Kathy) Snyder of Deer Park, WA; sister, Valerie (Joe) Reinsmith of Florissant, MO; daughter, Dawn (Monte) Fauque of Shelby; sons, Paul (Theresa) Snyder of Columbia Falls and Tom Snyder of Pinnacle; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; as well as special friends, Barbara Thorensteinson, and Kim and Aron Wides.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; brother, John Snyder; and children, Tim, Robert, and Karen.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Toole County Fire Department or to the charity of your choice.

Services will be Monday, June 28, at 11:00 AM at St. Richards Catholic Church in Columbia Falls. A reception at the church will follow the burial.
