Conrad

Kay (Kathleen) Ann Fowler, 91, passed on July 23, 2020 in Conrad.

Kay was born September 19, 1928 in Jordan, Montana, to John and Alma Murnion.  Kay attended grade school in Jordan, the first 2 years of high school in Miles City, and then graduated in Jordan with the class of 1946. She earned her teaching certificate from the College of Great Falls in 1948 and took a teaching position at the one-room Higgins country school near Conrad.  Kay married Tom Fowler on August 1, 1950, and together they raised twelve children.  Always proud of her Irish heritage, she possessed steadfast faith, honesty and loyalty.  She was showered with a healthy sense of humor, dignity and good old fashioned values fostered out of the scarcity era she grew up in.  This era taught her humility, gratefulness for life, and the value of children and a loving, honest husband. Kay worked several jobs during and after her family was raised that included substitute teaching, cooking at the hospital and nursing home, Jafra cosmetic consulting and massage therapy.  She enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, playing cards, and gardening.

Her family is left with meaningful, loving conversations and memories to soothe their loss.  The connection she had with Tom was really an event to witness and only grew more tender and loving in her later years.  Mom, you will be missed every day and will always be in our hearts and thoughts.  Kay is survived by Tom Fowler, her husband of 70 years, five sons; Tony (Agnes) Fowler, Bob Fowler, Jerry Fowler(Heidi),  Matthew (Donna) Fowler, Kelly Fowler (Heidi);  seven daughters;  Jean (Bob) Donovan, Judith (Scot) Brower, Pat (Fred) Ott, Ruth Fowler, Teresa (Larry) Krueger, Laurie (Ted) Kimball, and Lisa Schaack. Tom and Kay have 37 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.  Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Clark, Barney, James, Phillip & Coleman Murnion, and sister, Mary Johnson.

A private mass is being held at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
