Joyce Evelyn Copenhaver

May 13, 1930 — July 16, 2021

Conrad

On July 16, 2021 the heavens gained another angel. Joyce Copenhaver passed from this world to the next very peacefully with her daughter by her side. Joyce was born in Havre, MT on May 13, 1930 to Malvin Leo and Eleanor (Jordan) Romsa. She was the eldest of 3 children.

During her younger years her family moved a lot to find work so she attended many schools. She graduated from Cut Bank High School and went on to study an elementary course in education at Northern Montana College in Havre, where she met and and later married Wayne Copenhaver on June 17, 1950.

This brought her to her first of many years of being a farm wife. She brought with her to her marriage several head of Hereford cows and a registered Hereford bull; her dowry!

She found quickly that there were many organizations and groups to be part of and she joined them all. She became members and/or held positions in Farmers Union, Home Demonstration Club, Pondera Lutheran Church, 4-H County Council President, National Young Democrat Convention, was both teacher and sub-teacher for Golden West Lutheran Church, and held both secretary and treasure for the ALCW. Another position that she really enjoyed was Pondera County Camp Director, which she took and did for many years.

Wayne died in 1986, she moved into Conrad shortly after that and worked and volunteered for some other new organizations to keep busy, these were the area of aging, Crime Stoppers, and the Senior Center.

Mom really enjoyed being a farm wife, she liked every season. She was an Avon Lady for a very long time, she had a very large area and did very well.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother in law, her husband Wayne, her daughter Linda, her 3 yr old sister Emma Jeanette, her son-in-law Bill Dagel, 2 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law.
