Jean L. (Potter) Gordon

February 16, 1930 — October 5, 2021

Shelby

Jean Lucille (Potter) Gordon, 91, passed October 5, 2021.

Jean was born February 16,1930 in Cut Bank to Samuel L. Potter Jr. and Myrtle Dahlen Potter.

Jean married Doug “Claire” Gordon. The Gordons and the Potters were family friends. As a young man, Doug worked for Jean’s father one summer. Jean attended high school in Shelby and moved to California to continue school and work as a bank teller. Doug went to Fort Pendleton and met up with Jean in Los Angeles. Doug always said, “I chased her to California until she caught me.”

Jean was a “Kelly girl” and was hired as a temp employee to take shorthand and dictations. She was always proud of that accomplishment.

The family lived on the Newhouse ranch and Jean worked as a bank teller in Browning. She enjoyed showing her horses, Marias Sis and Marias Dancer. Jean roped for many years and did well.  She loved ranch life and had a great spirit. Jean made tons of friends wherever she went.  She will be missed from Montana to Arizona and never forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Doug.

Survivors include children, Cherie (Chris) Wigen, Tom (Sara) Gordon, Deen (Melissa) Gordon, Taylor Gordon, and Lane (Caitlin) Gordon.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 16, at 2pm at New Life Church in Shelby.
