Gladys "Babe" (Lamma) Snyder

November 30, 1927 — August 5, 2021

Conrad

Gladys E. “Babe” Snyder passed away August 5, 2021 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls of natural causes.  Cremation has taken place.  A graveside service for the family will be held at Lakeview Cemetery on Monday, August 23, at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a reception at the Valier Methodist Church.

Babe was born November 30, 1927 in Valier, the daughter of Harry and Zella Lamma.  She was the last (and smallest at 4’10”) of seven children.

She grew up in Valier, graduating from Valier High School in 1946, and was very proud of completing a year of college in Missoula.

On August 1, 1948, she married Lloyd E. “Bud” Campbell and they raised five children near Brady where they farmed.

She was later divorced in 1968 and remarried July 2, 1976 to Charles “Chuck” Snyder.  She found things to enjoy in each place they lived:  colorful birds in Missouri; her nearby children and grandchildren in Great Falls; family and beautiful mountains in Columbia Falls and the last years in Conrad, where their yard was serene, her flower barrels flourished, the birdfeeder was filled daily, and always … her family.

Evidence of her love filled her cookie jars, famous fudge at Christmas, wonderful meals too many to count and a neat and tidy home – everything in its place.

We will miss her (mostly) gentle and quiet spirit and her (sometimes) stubborn streak (which her children recognize in themselves).

She leaves behind her brother, Bob (Elsie) Lamma of Conrad; daughter, Jackie (Ray) Pryor of Lewistown; sons, Tom of Wetherford, TX, Don (Laurie) Campbell, Ron (Margaret) Campbell both of Brady, and Bill (Kelli) Campbell of Dutton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Snyder; 3 brothers, Ray, Harold and Glenn Lamma; and 2 sisters, Ruth Melvin and Bonnie Osterman.

Many thanks go to those who cared for her in her last years at the Horizon Lodge, Conrad Beehive and Special Care unit at Pondera Medical Center.  You are all very special people.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Association225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
