Edward Donald Arensmeyer, 77, passed away early Saturday morning, April 29, 2023, in Great Falls.

Ed was the youngest of six children born to Reinhart J. (Ray) Arensmeyer and Ethel Mary Agee Arensmeyer on Nov. 23, 1945, in Choteau.

Ed grew up on the family farm in East Farmington and graduated from Choteau High School. He married Sheila Ann Jenson on Dec. 29, 1965, in Choteau. Their marriage was solemnized in the Cardston Alberta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Nov. 10, 1973.

For a short time, Ed farmed with his dad, and from 1966 to 1969, he served in the U.S. Navy as an instrument repairman, stationed in Key West, FL. He worked as the parts manager for Torgerson’s, Inc. from 1970-2010. Ed also served as Cubmaster in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 20 years; he earned the Silver Beaver Award, the highest recognition bestowed on volunteer leaders. Ed actively served in his church for years, serving in various responsibilities.

Ed enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, perusing antique shops, collecting coins, belt buckles, and red toy tractors, playing cards and boardgames, bowling in a league, building models, woodworking, and tinkering in his workroom.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Todd (Faith); Lauri; Lisa; Nancy Crawford (Chase); Darren (Tammy); and Matthew; grandchildren, Sarielle, Kaden, Katelyn, KyLee, Makayla, and Chavelle; sister, Eunice Hall (J.C.); brother, James (Kathleen); aunt, Barbara; sister-in-law, Doris; father-in-law, Andrew Jenson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; step-mothers Theora Monroe and Faye Boggs; granddaughter, Kirsten; sister, Shirley; brothers Gary and Kenneth; and mother-in-law, Charlene Jenson.

A public viewing and visitation will be held at Asper Funeral Home Cut Bank on Tuesday, May 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at the Crown Hill Cemetery.
