Doug Gard, husband, father, grandfather, a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, and longtime resident of Kevin, passed away on May 23, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born March 6, 1947, in Whittier, CA to Lyle and Gretta.  Doug was raised in Cutbank by his mother, Gretta and stepfather, “Red” Hartwell.

Doug is survived by his wife of 46 years, Becky; four children, Brad Gard (Charlotte) of Loveland, CO, Shelly Habets (Pat) of Billings, Michelle Bartholomew (Dan) of Troutdale, OR,  and Doug Premo of Evro, MT; brothers, Dan and Don; sisters, Claudia, Kay, American Penny, Canadian Penny, and Donna; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, who knew him as “Uncle Nice Guy” / “Uncle Pain in the Butt”.

Preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather; and 2 brothers.

Doug and Becky spent their winters in Uma, AZ and love their “Happy Hours” and desert rides with friends.

His favorite past time, when not being a snowbird, was traveling the back roads of North Toole County while shooting gophers, and “counting mosquitos” in the streets of Kevin.

Donations can be made to the charity of their choice.

A Celebration of life will be held Friday, May 27, at 1pm. A reception at Mint Bar, 220 Main St, Shelby, will follow burial.
