Great Falls/Conrad

Robert "Bob" Ries 77, passed away at his home in Great Falls on July 29, 2020.

Bob was born on Dec 11, 1942 in Conrad to Raymond & Rosella (Koenig) Ries. He grew up on a wheat farm; graduated from Conrad High School in 1962 and then moved to Great Falls and worked as a custodian for many years until his retirement in 2010.

Bob was a special and unique person. He was very kind hearted and never judged anyone for anything. He never complained about his struggles in life. He was always happy and happiest when watching sports on television. He always talked about them to anyone who would listen. He especially enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs. Bob e-mailed his family members every week during this Covid-19 pandemic, checking to see how everyone was doing and always telling them he was fine. He never forgot a family members birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion.

Bob’s family would like to thank the Great Falls Senior Housing and their residents for making his last few years so enjoyable for him. He loved the close-knit community where he lived, they became a second family to him.

Bob is survived by his siblings, Jeanette Habets (Darrel) Valier, David Ries, Cut Bank, Michael Ries (Nancy) Sherwood, OR, and Barbara Ries, Spokane, WA; sister-in-law Marilyn Ries, Okanogan, WA; aunts, Bernice Muir of Sidney  and Joan Keegan (Mike) of Spokane WA; three nieces, four nephews, three great-nephews and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; and nephew, Craig Habets. He will be missed.

A memorial will be planned at a later date due to the current coronavirus situation. If you would like to make a memorial in Bob’s name , it can be sent to Great Falls Senior Housing, at 1500 Chowen Springs Loop, Great Falls, MT 59405.
