Virginia Dyrud

December 29, 1923 — November 7, 2017

Virginia Dyrud, 93, of Conrad, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

Virginia Marsden was born in Fargo, North Dakota and grew up on her parents’ farm along the Red River Valley.  She went to grade school and high school in Hendrum, MN.   After graduating there, she attended Dakota Business College in Fargo.  She and her girlfriend Lois traveled West and worked in Kress Dime Stores in Great Falls, Washington, and California.  On their way back to North Dakota, they stopped in Conrad to visit Lois’ relatives. That is where she met Louis’ cousin Gorden Dyrud, whom she later married. They settled on their farm 20 miles east of Conrad.

Virginia was very active in the Conrad community, in the Golden West Lutheran Church, World Hunger, 4-H, and many other charitable organizations. They spent summer vacations in Glacier Park with their family for many years. Her faith and trust in God was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years Gorden Dyrud and their three children Ralph, Ken, and Barbara. She is also survived by four grandchildren Jason, Laura, Carrie, and Erin, and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Gladys Marsden, sister Grace Krabbenhoft, and brothers Howard and Jim Marsden.

Virginia’s loving spirit touched the lives of many, especially her family, and she will forever be remembered.

Services will be Friday, November 10, at 2:00 PM at Golden West Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Golden West Lutheran Church or charity of donor's choice.
