On August 7, 2025, the heavens received an angel. Theresa Marie Fauley passed peacefully at Lakeview Rehab and Nursing with her daughter, Honora, by her side.
She started life in Sundance, Wyoming, on August 6, 1929, the 5th child of 7 to George and Catherine Ritter. Moving often, while her father worked for the railroad, the family eventually settled in East Glacier Park, Montana in the 1930's. She attended elementary school in East Glacier then on to Browning, where she performed as a majorette for all the school functions and participated in plays with the drama class. In her graduating year, her mother passed away leaving her to care for her 2 younger sisters.
While in high school, she was friends with Alice Fauley, whose brother Carlyle took a shine to Theresa. They dated for several years before Carlyle was deployed to Guam, then on to Iwo Jima. After he returned home, they continued their courtship and then before he was deployed to the Korean conflict in 1950, they were married.
On his return, they moved to San Diego so he could pursue a carrier in construction, but with the understanding she could return to East Glacier each year to visit their families, which they did. In the1964, the family had a chance to purchase the cabin in East Glacier, that Carlyle had grown up in, so it became their summer home.
On June 13, 1954, they welcomed son, Colin Ward followed on August 26, 1957 by daughter, Honora Marie. She loved her children so much and devoted herself to be the best wife and mother to her small family. She instilled in her children the love of the outdoors and Montana, teaching them the names of all the floral and fauna that she could in both California and Montana. Driving the kids to East Glacier every summer was always an adventure. Her life was complete with her little family of 4 but in 1979, life was tragically upended, when beloved son, Colin, was in a car accident and passed away from his injuries 3 months after. Life was so different for Theresa after that, so needing something to do and taking her love of antiques to a new level, she opened an antique shop in East Glacier, first in our little cabin to then obtaining an actual shop, which she ran until 2020. In 2002, She and Carlyle left San Diego for good and moved back to Montana, settling in Lakeside, as she always said, just close enough but not too close to be a nuisance to daughter, Honora and son-in-law, Jack.
After losing her husband in 2020, she finally closed up shop and spent her time puttering between her 2 homes. After an episode at home in March, she was admitted to Lakeview, where she passed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlyle; son, Colin; brothers, Patrick and Steve; sisters, Genevieve, Katherine Elizabeth and Helen; brothers-in-law, Crawford and Jerry Show. Also brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo Hixon, William Big Spring, Robert Clyde Fauley, Howard Fauley, Clayton Peterson, Eve Fauley, Bobbi Kay Beach and Barbara Peone; nieces and nephews, Christine Raye, Joan(Ryan) Olson, Terry Crawford and Michael Ryan.
She is survived by daughter, Honora and son-in-law, Jack; sisters-in-law, Rae Marie Fauley and Alice Fauley; many nieces and nephews, who were always in her heart; and her sweet Kitty Cat.
Services for Theresa will be at the Church of Ascension in East Glacier Park on Saturday, September 13 at IO:OOAM. Luncheon to follow at Serrano's Restaurant.
