Steve Jenson

January 19, 1954 — October 14, 2018

Choteau

Steven Udell Jenson, 64, passed away Sunday morning, October 14, 2018, at the Benefis Teton Medical Center in Choteau, MT, from natural causes associated to a stroke he suffered in October 2011. Steve was born January 19, 1954, in Conrad, MT, to Andrew Udell and Charlene Maxine Jenson. He was the fourth of seven children and grew up in Choteau.

Even as a small child, Steve was always singing and dancing. Throughout his life he enjoyed and shared these talents often. He was the most comical member of his family and loved to tell jokes; he was constantly laughing and smiling. Steve played football through high school and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. He had a huge sweet tooth and especially loved lemon meringue pie, doughnuts, and his mom’s fried chicken and creamed peas and potatoes. He was also the child who most loved helping his dad in the family business.

A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve earned a degree from Ricks College, attended Brigham Young University, and served a two-year mission in San Antonio and Houston, TX. Steve was incredibly outgoing and hardworking; he enjoyed talking to everybody which helped him in his work as an independent sales distributor. He also ran his own carpet cleaning service for many years. Steve most loved his many years as a long-haul trucker in a truck he affectionately named Bertha.

In 1978, Steve married Barbara Christensen, and together they had five children; they later divorced. In 2011, just a month before his debilitating stroke, he married Sherri Harris. Sherri has selflessly cared for and loved Steve during the past seven years, even when it was necessary for Steve to return to Montana for a better care option.

Throughout his medical struggle, Steve’s parents also faithfully attended to him. Although physically limited herself, his mother always shared her love with him and helped him whenever she was able. His father spent time every night reading to Steve from the scriptures and other good books and helping him exercise his weakened muscles. Many other family members and devoted friends also provided visits, support, and encouragement to Steve continually.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sherri Harris of Gilbert, AZ; parents, Andrew and Charlene Jenson of Choteau, MT; children, Andrew, Lindi, Douglas, Mack, and Troy and their families; stepson, Michael (Sarah) Arrowsmith and children; sisters, Sheila (Edward) Arensmeyer and Toni Jenson; brothers, Michael and Randy (Pamela); aunt, Ilene Jenson; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Cathy Beckman and Linda Jenson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Choteau with a viewing before at 10:00 a.m.
