Sandra J. Swanson

January 18, 1951 — September 5, 2017

Sandra Hanley Swanson, 66, passed away on September 5, 2017, surrounded by her family following a brief illness with cancer.

Funeral services will be held September 30 at 2 p.m. at the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church in Conrad. Burial of ashes will be immediately following the service at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Conrad. Please join the family at a reception at the Pondera Golf Club, west of Conrad, after the services.

Sandi was born January 18, 1951, in Great Falls to BW (Barney) and JoAnn Hanley. As the oldest sibling, she led the way with four brothers and a sister. She married Gary Swanson April 22, 1972. They have been together for 45 years at home in Conrad. They have two sons, Brantt and Chase, and four grandchildren, Kyus (9), Ashlyn (7), Isabella (7), and Hanley (4). Sandra was a kind and gentle soul who had a Ioving and generous heart. She was always giving to others, especially for her family and friends. This will stay with all of us forever.

She loved her various pets over the years, and currently her Iittle dog, Putt-putt is lost without her, as are all of her loved ones.

She was a wonderful teacher's assistant to a special student, Eric, for several years. She then owned and operated a hospitality business (the HiWay Tavern), where she continued to enjoy the company of friends and share her compassion. She enjoyed her animals, family dinners, her stained-glass projects with friends, her Wednesday afternoon bowling team, and camping.

Survivors include her husband, Gary, Conrad; sons, Brantt and grandchildren Kyus and Ashlyn of Conrad; son, Chase (Nastica) and grandchildren lsabella and Hanley of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Mike (Debbie) of Bozeman, John (Mary) of Seattle, WA, Tom (Marcia) of Conrad, sister, Judy Matheson of Conrad, and numerous special nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, JoAnn; father, Barney; brother, Park; and infant sister, Mary.

Memorials are suggested to the Pet Project (City of Conrad office) or the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church roof fund. ln lieu of flowers, please offer an act of kindness to someone in need.
