Rosalie T. Manley

July 7, 1945 — July 16, 2025

Rosalie Manley, a beloved mother, sister, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and spirited adventure.

Born to Israel and Sophie Sandon, Rosalie was a proud first-generation Montanan and the youngest of nine siblings. She was raised in the close-knit community of Sunburst, where she graduated from Sunburst High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with compassion, strength, and perseverance.

After high school, Rosalie pursued a career in healthcare, attending X-ray technician school in Missoula. It was there she met and married Al Manley. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed four children: Sophie, Clinton, Renae, and Tanya.

Later in life, Rosalie found companionship and joy with Albert Lunda, with whom she spent 25 wonderful years. The two shared a love of dancing, playing pitch, camping, and traveling. Their time together was highlighted by many cherished memories—picking huckleberries, relaxing at their cabin in Pinnacle, and embracing every adventure that came their way.

Rosalie’s devotion to her community was evident in her many roles and accomplishments. Among the many groups she has been proud to be a part of over the years were Toole County Search and Rescue, the VFW Auxiliary, the Senior Center, and the SWEET group. She was honored with numerous awards, including Senior of the Year, the Toole County Sheriff’s Office Outstanding Support Staff, as well as recognition for her 29 years of dedicated service.

Known for her vibrant personality and love of life, Rosalie never shied away from an adventure. Her fearless spirit earned her the nickname “Grandma Extreme” during a trip to Cabo—just one of many stories that showcased her bold and joyful approach to life. She also had a deep love for playing cards and spending meaningful time with her family and friends, treasuring the laughter and connection that came with each gathering.

Rosalie’s warmth, strength, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a family and community forever touched by her compassion, generosity, and adventurous soul.

Rosalie is survived by her daughters, Sophie (Pete), Renae, and Tanya (Craig); grandchildren, Jordan (Kale), Jess (Bajin), Alex, Aaron, Robert, CheyAnne, Morgan, and Shane; brother, Paul; many cherished nieces and nephews.

Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents, Israel and Sophie; siblings, Lionel, Freeman, Art, Armond, Louise, Cherie, and Myrna; and in-laws, Faye, Pat, Eleanor, Cathy, Ray, and Bonnie; son, Clinton; Al Manley, and Albert Lunda.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 20th at 2:00 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where friends and family are invited to share stories and honor the remarkable life of Rosalie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shelby Senior Center, in memory of Rosalie’s lifelong dedication to helping others.
