Ronald Reighard

                Ronald Lee Reighard of Sunburst, MT, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2024, with his wife by his side.

He was born on May 17, 1944, to Bill and Mary Reighard in Billings, MT.  He joined Dorothy, MaryEllen “Buddy”, Jim, Kenny, Bob and 11 months later another brother David joined the family.  

Ron grew up in the Bull Hills south of Roundup, MT, on the family ranch and attended the Klein School until 7^th Grade when it merged with Roundup School.  His times at the Klein School were ones he remembered most about his education.  He graduated from Roundup High School in 1962.  After graduation, he went to work in the oilfields and continued to do so until his retirement in 2007.  After retirement, he started RLR Contracting doing carpentry and remodeling work.  He was someone everyone could call when they needed a handyman to fix anything.

In 1963, Ron married Judy Racki and this past December they celebrated their 60^th anniversary.  In 1972, they moved to Sunburst, MT.  Ron was an active member of the community.  He helped get the local baseball program up and running, was a member of the local Jaycees, the school board, and the Shelby gas board.  He loved to spend time in his garden and bowling.

Ron loved nothing more than spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.  And each summer, if they wanted to earn spending money, he welcomed their help.

Ron is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Jeff of Great Falls, Ronnie (Ida) of Butte, Nancy (Joren) of Columbia Falls; his grandchildren, Baylee, Cole, Seth, Ellie, Hunter, Abbey, and Jakob; his brothers, Jim, Kenny, and Bob.  He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Marie; parents, Bill, Mary; sisters, Dorothy and MaryEllen “Buddy”; and brother, David.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 3^rd at 1:30 pm at the Lutheran Church of Sunburst for family and friends.  There will be a celebration of Ron’s life at the Community Center on June 8^th where stories can be shared, and everyone can sit and visit just like he enjoyed doing.
