Devon

Robert Homer White, age 97, of Devon, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the Shelby Heritage Center.

Robert Homer “Bob” White was born on January 14, 1928, in Shelby, Montana, to John Homer and Laura Claire (Stalcup) White. He grew up on the family homestead in Devon alongside his siblings Sam, Bill, Mina, Jean, Eileen, and Marian. Bob attended primary school in Devon and graduated from high school in Shelby.

From 1950-1952 Bob was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, joining the Fox Company as a motor transport operator. He served with distinction during the Korean War, ensuring vital supplies and equipment reached the front lines under dangerous conditions. His courage and dedication to his fellow Marines earned him the Bronze Star for bravery, a testament to his valor and selfless service.

On January 15, 1947, at the age of 19, Bob married Sunde. Bob dedicated his life to farming and to his family. He and Sunde were blessed with three children: Robin (Kim), Linnet (Short), and Brian (Darcy). He was a devoted husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He took great pride in being his own boss, working tirelessly on his farm equipment, and tinkering in his shop. Beyond farming, Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and attending sporting events.

His greatest joy came from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose company and antics brought him endless happiness. Bob loved to share stories about his family and never missed an opportunity to express how proud he was of each of them.

Bob’s life was one of devotion, hard work, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

Along with Bob’s children, he is survived by grandkids, Brent, Daisy, Dustin, Dillon, Ryan, Renee, Alex, Briane and great grandkids, Austin, Zoe, Taylor, Rylee, Hadley, Reese, Ava, and Daelyn.
