Robert A. Lake

Robert Allen Lake, 88, passed away on the morning of November 27, 2018 at Liberty Medical Center in Chester.

Robert was born June 2, 1930.  He attended school in Joplin and graduated from high school in 1948.  He went on to Northern Montana College in Havre for several years.  With the natural talent, he enjoyed his classes in mechanics and from then on became very good at fixing anything and everything.

Robert joined the Army Reserves from 1951-1957.  When Tiber Dam started to hire, he worked as a Uke Driver until the dam was finished.  It was another job he enjoyed.

In the fall of 1954, he met Judith Thiesen, a North Dakota transplant and new Commercial teacher for Joplin High School.  They were married on June 3, 1956.  This past June, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Soon after, they started farming north of Joplin which he did until retiring at the age of 75.  In between those years, they also purchased and farmed Judy’s family farm at Carrington, ND.  In his spare time, he learned how to repair clocks and watches.  Robert enjoyed farming, his family and their families, basketball, bowling, and square dancing.  He always gave his “all” in whatever he tackled.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; son, Jim (Mary); daughters, Crystal and Robin; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 30, at 2:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church in Joplin.
