Robert Gordon Adams

Robert Gordon Adams, 89, a retired farmer from Valier, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2012, due to cancer. He passed away at the home he built over 60 years ago. A brief memorial service will be incorporated into the Sunday service at the Conrad Mission Church at 10:45 am on Sunday March 4, 2012. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Bob was born at his grandmother’s home in Kingsley, Iowa, to Russell Bert and Mary Gertrude (Harding) Adams. He attended elementary and high school in Valier. Bob graduated with honors from the Montana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he instructed pilots how to fly B-17s. Bob met his wife, Dorothy Anne Petersen, at church while he was stationed in Merced, California. They were married in Stockton, California on October 15, 1949. Bob and Dorothy Anne were married 62 years! He enjoyed flying airplanes, collecting swords and caps, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Bob and Dorothy Anne have three daughters: Delphia Matz of Great Falls, Robin (Bob) Sauter and Janine (Bruce) Gillespie both of Portland, Oregon. They have eight grandchildren: Holly (Bob) Bender, Brian (Amanda) Fichtner, Joshua (Kristen) Sauter, David (Megan) Sauter, Emily and Megan Sauter, Daniel and Alaina Gillespie. Their seven great-grandchildren are: Ciara, Jake, Gabrielle, and Michael Bender, Joshua and Nicole Sauter and Jackson Fichtner.
Memorials may be given to the Conrad Mission Church or to Pastor Grahame and Karen Nicholson at Intermountain Christian Fellowship.
