Richard Swenson passed away Friday, September 11, 2026 from natural causes at his home in Cut Bank.
Richard was born July 12, 1952 to Warren and Mary Ann Swenson at the Glacier County Hospital in Cut Bank. Dick grew up on the family farm north of Cut Bank near the Del Bonita Port of Entry and attended country school near his home until the third grade. His family purchased a house in Cut Bank where he finished his high school education and worked on his family farms. He attended one quarter of agricultural education in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
Dick met and married his wife, Penne Pellett, on November 27, 1976 and together they farmed Glacier Farms Inc. for the next forty years. Dick really enjoyed farming, running equipment, chatting up his agricultural friends and coffee time at the local restaurant. Dick enjoyed water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, camping, fishing and hunting, football and golf and just being a good dad and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Penne; son, Kyle (Nisha) Swenson of Cut Bank; daughter, Naomi (Leon) Smith of Glendive, MT; daughter Eve Swenson of Cut Bank; sister, Mary Ann (Gary) Fauque of Poulsen; brother, Jerry Swenson of Cut Bank and sister, Francis (Steve) Noreen also of Cut Bank; grandson Jeremiah Swenson of Cut Bank, grandson, Justin McLeod of Great Falls and granddaughter Madison Mcleod of Great Falls along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at Prairie Peace Lutheran Church followed by a Celebration of Dick’s Life at the Cut Bank Moose Lodge immediately after church service. Please join us as we celebrate “A Life Well Lived” with food, friends and fond memories.
