Raymond G. Martin

Raymond George Martin passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Ray was born on September 18, 1928 in Livingston, MT to Jack Martin and Grace Barcus Martin.  The oldest of five children, he grew up in Santa Cruz, CA.  He came to Montana in 1949 to help his grandmother, Sarah Barcus, run her ranch.  That is where he spent the next 68 years of his life.  He started out with 12 milk cows and upon his death, had one of the prettiest herds of black Angus cows in the country.  Ray married Kathryn “Kitty” Franks on November 12, 1955.  They were married 61 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Rae (Johnathan) Entz; his son, John Daniel Martin; two grandsons, Raymond and Ryan Martin; niece, Amy L. Beard; sisters, Dorothy Favour of Green Valley, AZ, Alice Heath of Port Angeles, WA, and Bettie Hendren of Union Mills, NC; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathryn; and brother, Roy.

Ray was a fair and honest man and will be missed.

Cremation has taken place and in accordance with Ray’s wishes, no services will be held.
