Michael J Wurz, 81, passed away November 28, 2011, at his home at the Hillside Hutterite Colony from natural causes. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 1, at 12 noon at the Hillside Colony with burial to follow in the colony cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Michael was born October 2, 1930 to john and Rachel (Hofer) Wurz at Warner, Alberta where he grew up and was educated. He came to the Hillside Colony in 1951 where he was the pig boss for 25 years.
He is survived by his children, Susie and Rachel of Midway Colony; Zach, Mike, Jake, John and Lydia of Hillside Colony; Elizabeth of Sunrise Colony; Sam of Chinook; and Judy of Hartland Colony; as well as 34 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Rachel of Sagebrush Colony, Rebecca of Kingbury Colony, and Katie of Rimrock Colony and brothers, Rev Andrew of Hillside Colony and Jake of Eagle Creek Colony. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Susanna; 2 sons-in-law; 1 daughter-in-law; 1 sister and 1 brother.
He will be greatly missed.
