Mary Josephine Slicker

Mary Josephine Slicker,85, of Shelby, passed on March 30, 2026.

Memorial service will be Thursday, July 30 at 11am at Whitted Funeral Chapel Shelby.

Mary Jose Phien Bauer, her birth name, was born to Ruth M. Bauer at the Browning Indian Hospital on December 20, 1940. Ruth and Mary moved to Kansas where Mary attended school. Ruth would marry Charley Ferrell and Mary would take Ferrell as her last name.

Mary’s mother died of cancer in 1957. Mary moved back to Montana in 1964 and gave birth to her daughter, Laura, later that year. Mary met a man from Kansas, and they would have four sons, Robert in 1966, James in 1967, Steven in 1971, and Leroy in 1973.

Mary’s legacy would be 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mary will be sorely missed by each and everyone.
