Conrad

Marilyn Jean (Meyer) Nyberg of Conrad, passed away peacefully at Teton Peak Assisted Living in Choteau on Friday, December 20, 2024.

Marilyn was born on October 20,1936 to Henry and Winifred Meyer. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Conrad High School. Marilyn met the love of her life while working at Buttrey Foods Store in Conrad. They were married on May 15, 1955. Marilyn gave birth to her first child, Daniel, on May 9, 1959 while living in Conrad. They then moved to Missoula where she gave birth to her daughter, Kolleen, on August 5, 1961. In 1966 the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for a brief time. In 1967 they moved to Great Falls. Marilyn was a "Welcome Lady" for a brief time and much later she went to work for the Cascade County Treasurer Office as a clerk in the Motor Vehicle Department. She worked there for several years until Vern was transferred to Bozeman. While in Bozeman she started quilting and painting all of Vern's woodcrafts. In 1992 they moved back to Conrad.

Marilyn loved the family camping trips to Tiber Reservoir. She would dig in the sand, make sandcastles and hunt for rocks with her grandchildren. She loved the holidays, especially making Christmas cookies or dyeing Easter eggs with her grandchildren. Marilyn loved reading, painting and drawing, but most of all, she loved her flowers. Gardening was her passion, and she passed it on to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include, son, Dan(Kathy) Nyberg; daughter, Kolleen(Paul) Porter; grandchildren, Derek Nyberg, Dustan (Angie) Nyberg, Heather (Jayson) Holmes, Megan(Kyal) Porter, Emma(Deric) Dishman; great grandchildren, Landen and Dawson Holmes, Tristan Dishman and Ophelia Porter; sisters, Judy (Bob) Dauwalder, and Shirley (John) Pederson; brother, Chuck Meyer; and a special aunt, Maryellen Brownell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon and parents, Hank and Winnie.

Marilyn will be remembered for her smile, kind and loving nature and compassion for others. A very special thank you goes out to the management and staff at Teton Peak Assisted Living for their exceptional care during Marilyn’s stay there. Services will be announced at a later date.
