Loren Dean Hawks age 60 of Chester, MT passed on May 20, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Loren was born in Chester on June 15, 1965 to Evelyn and Henry Hawks. He grew up on a family farm north of Chester where he and his family raised cattle and crops. He graduated from Chester High School in 1983 and then attended MSU Bozeman and Helena VoTech until his dad passed. He then came home to farm full time with his extended family.
Growing up, Loren had many hobbies. Snowmobiling, softball, fishing, hunting, and hanging with his buddies just to name a few.
In 1993 he met his wife, Jennifer, and they married in 1995. It was love at first sight and the rest is history. Over the years they together created a beautiful family raising 3 kids on the family farm passing on his love of golden wheat fields to his children.
He was the husband and dad to do it all, all of the time. Loren held a seat on the school board, reffed basketball games, on the court and from the stands, he sold carbide drills points for VW Mfg in Medicine Hat, drove his kids back and forth to sporting events, sat in at every one, and helped anyone and everyone he came across. He lived his life making sure everyone else was taken care of and never asked for anything in return.
In 2024, Loren was diagnosed with Myleodysplatic syndrome, a form of blood cancer genetically inherited from his father. Loren chose to fight this battle for his family and received a bone marrow transplant in October of 2025. He spent 4 months in Salt Lake at the Huntsman Cancer Institute rehabilitating and returned home in January 2026. He was ecstatic to be back in his favorite with his favorite people. Due to an infection and being immunocompromised, he was re-hospitalized and continued to fight. But the battle was too much, and God called him home May 20th, 2026 surrounded by his family, covered in love.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Henry Hawks.
Survivors include: his wife Jennifer Hawks, son Bradee Hawks and wife Anna Hawks, daughter Peyton (Hawks) Berkram and husband Reid Berkram, and daughter Sydney Hawks.
