Lexcia Lee Jacobsen (“Lucky,” “Lexi”), 88, of Shelby, Montana, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Lexi was born June 10, 1937, in Spokane, Washington, to Rude and Crystal Anderson. She later moved to Montana and earned her GED in Great Falls through VoTech. She loved track and was very good at it, and she also enjoyed bowling. She married Arne Jens Peter Jacobsen, and they raised their family in Browning, Montana. After being widowed, she later married Louis Rooney, and they had one daughter together. After his passing when their daughter was four years old, Lexi showed great strength and resilience. In 1979, she moved to Shelby, Montana, where she made her home and raised her youngest daughter.
Lexi worked for over 40 years as a U.S. Postal contractor, delivering mail across Great Falls, Cut Bank, Shelby, Kevin, and Sunburst, becoming a familiar and friendly face to many. After her years delivering mail, she worked in the family-owned restaurant, called “South of the Border”, where she continued serving her community with care. She was also a devoted member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Shelby and served as a Sunday school teacher for several years.
Lexi was known for her sweet spirit, her strength, and her honesty—she always spoke her mind. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in her large and beautiful garden, which reflected the love and care she gave to her family and those around her.
She is survived by her children Rebecca (Happy) Kay Arrow Topknot, Paulette Ann Jacobsen, Barbara Lee Jacobsen, Robert Arne Jacobsen, and Cindy Lea Rooney; as well as 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ralph Anderson; her husbands, Arne Jens Peter Jacobsen and Louis Rooney; her son, William Joe Jacobsen; and her grandchildren, Sonny William Arrow Topknot and Joseph Morgan Arrow Topknot.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 7th at 2:00 p.m. at 131 9th Ave North, Shelby, Montana.
Lexi will be remembered for her strength, her faith, her hardworking spirit, and the deep love she carried for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
