Larry J. Brown, 54, of Cut Bank died peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on September 7, 2011 at the Northern Rockies Medical Center. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery with a reception following at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include Bette, his wife of over 22 years; his daughter Hallie of Chicago; his son Jeff of Moorhead, MN; his brother Randy of Kevin; his sister Carol (Dave) of Missoula; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Florence and his sister-in-law Debi.
Larry was born November 10, 1956, the middle child of Clifford and Florence (Piepgrass) Brown in Shelby, MT. He graduated from high school in Sunburst, before attending Northern Montana College in Havre, earning his Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology.
Larry and Bette were married on January 28, 1989, living in Cut Bank. Larry worked at Northern Ford as an auto/diesel mechanic for 33 years, but his “work” continued far into weekends full of logging and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his mechanic’s wisdom with others. Larry was active in the Cut Bank Snogoers, the Montana Snowmobile Association, the Cut Bank Sportsman Association, and much more.
Larry made an impact on everybody he met, making friends everywhere he went. He set an example for us all through his ways of making the most out of every minute. Larry taught his family and friends to “never let fear stop you.” He lived that motto until the end, fighting his illness every step of the way. His friendship and love was a blessing to everyone in his life. He will be dearly missed.
