Jean was born in Shelby, Montana on August 15, 1923 to Luther and Elizabeth Appley joining her brothers and sisters Blanche, Norman, Ethel, Harold, Marjorie, Charles, and Doris.  Jean lost her mother at the tender age of 4. She was raised with her older sisters’ families living throughout Canada and Montana with summers at the Ranch with her Dad.  She graduated from Shelby High School in 1941.  Jean married Kenneth Leck on June 29, 1942.  They farmed North of Galata for 40 years raising their children David, Steven and Mariann.   Jean and Ken enjoyed 40 years of retirement on beautiful Flathead Lake.

Always enjoying social activities, Jean participated in many such as Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Galata Good Neighbor Club, but most importantly, the Rollins Bridge Club (aka The Moffia to her grandchildren).  She had many hobbies but her favorites included quilting, reading while listening to classical music and gardening.    Jean and Ken hit the road traveling throughout the U.S. with a few trips abroad.  Many summers were spent entertaining family and friends at the Lake.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Ken, son David and great-grandchild Reagan Lawson.  She is survived by her special companion Miss Kitty; children Steve and Helen, Mariann and John, and Shirley; grandchildren Dan and Lisa, Laura and John, Travis and Nikki, Kristin and Eric, Andrew and Katy, Meghan, and Kayla and Blake. Jean has 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
