James Moran

March 6, 1945 — May 3, 2026

Cut Bank

James ‘Jim’ Moran passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026. His wife, Mardie and friends Gary and Janet were at his side. He was born in Browning, Mont. to John and Delevene Moran on March 6, 1945.

He had a great love for his family, especially his two daughters, Tina and Janeth. He married Mardie in 2013 and acquired three more daughters of Mardie’s, Doreen, Susie and Monica. Jim has three grandchildren, Josh, Tabi and Dexter; four great grandchildren, Jasper, Samarra, Leila and Eli; and one great, great grandchild, River. He is also survived by his brother, Jack.

Jim also has many nephews and nieces and friends and enjoyed visits with them. He was quite the storyteller and had a great sense of humor. Most stories were reminiscing about his childhood here. Jim’s many jobs included farming, logger, caretaker at Kiowa Camp, trucking and maintenance manager at low-income housing in Stanford, Havre and Bozeman. He was groundskeeper for King Arthur Park until he retired in Bozeman in

2015. He decided to move back to Cut Bank where he spent most of his life.

Jim was proud of his Native American Heritage. He belonged to the Montana Little Shell Tribe. He loved fishing and hunting – anything with nature and wildlife. He loved country music and could play most songs on his guitar. He liked working with leather and drawing wildlife and mountains. In the summer he would attend many yard sales where people knew him as the bargain hunter.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; siblings, Maggie, Frank, Glenn, Berta, Dan and Pete; and former wives, Pat and Carol.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 23 at the Cut Bank Community Bible Church, 102 N. Central Ave., Cut Bank at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Gary Mengerhausen.
