On May 3, 2025, Grace Constance Schwenke, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Shelby, MT at the age of 97.
She was born on September 9, 1927 in Lewistown, MT, Grace was sixth of eight children born to Lawrence and Constance Grosser of Cat Creek, MT. Grace live and attended school in Cat Creek until moving to Cut Bank, MT with her family as a teenager. In Cut Bank she met Thomas Schwenke and the two were married in Kalispell, MT on June 1, 1946. Together they welcomed and raised nine children. Grace worked in the bakery at Buttrey Foods and then at IGA until retiring. With a hefty family tree and bonds formed from the heart, Grace’s reach was as far as it was wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.
Grace will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children, Thomas (Marlena) Schwenke, Diana (Carl) Lynch, Elaine (Scott) Roberson, Daniel Schwenke, Marianne Schwenke, and Russell Schwenke; her many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is joined in rest by her parents, Lawrence and Constance Grosser; her brothers, Elmer, Floyd, Earl, and LeRoy Grosser; sisters, Hazel Archer, Ruth Hay, and Edith Devereaux; sons Wayne, Allen, and David Schwenke; daughter-in-law Patrica Schwenke; and granddaughter Vicki Schwenke.
A graveside service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
