Franklin Oliver Peters Jr., 68, of Inverness, passed on May 4, 2025 at Logan Health Center in Chester, due to complications from an acute lung condition.
Frank was born on November 14, 1956 in Townsend, Montana to Franklin Oliver Peters Sr. and Velma Ruth Campbell Peters. He joined his two siblings, Judith Ruth Peters and Lyle Gary Peters.
He grew up on Indian Creek in Townsend, where his childhood was full of adventure and deep roots-memories he cherished his whole life. He was especially close to his Grandma Campbell, Aunt Goldie, and many Campbell cousins.
Frank graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1975 and worked for several local farmers before finding steady work at the sawmill.
He later drove for Transystems and then spent over 25 years with Dick Irvin Inc. in Shelby. Frank made friends everywhere he went but the people he met through Dick Irvin became some of his favorites.
In 1977, Frank married Jody Pierce. Together they welcomed two children, Julie Anne Peters and Damon Franklin Peters. From the day Julie was born, Frank’s greatest mission in life was to care for his children. He made sure they knew, without a doubt, that they were loved beyond measure, just because they were his.
In 1989, Frank married Shila Moog. They lived in East Helena until 2020, when they moved to Shila’s hometown of Inverness. Frank continued to summer on his place on Indian Creek, where he loved watching deer, rabbits, and whatever else wandered by.
Frank is survived by his wife, Shila; his daughter, Julie; his son, Damon; Damon’s fiancé, Vanessa Chance, along with their children, Abby, Amy, Jacob, and Cassie. He leaves behind his brother, Gary (Doreen) Peters, brother-in-law, Hardy Pottinger; former mother-in-law, Harriett Pierce; and his many beloved Moog in-laws, Rob (Mary Jane), Gary (Sherry), Daren, Mick (Janez), Sandra, Marlin (Solange), Grady, and Deanne (Brian); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all whom he treasured.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Franklin Sr “Pete”, his mom, Ruth; sister, Judy Peters Pottinger; his former father-in-law, Leroy Pierce; his in-laws, Robert and Una Moog; brother-in-law, Bruce Moog; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
