Eunice Carlstad

Eunice Ardell (Faldalen) Carlstad passed away surrounded by her family on August 15, 2026, at Logan Health-Chester in Chester, Montana. She was 91 years old.

 Services will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Eunice was born October 6, 1934, to Olaf and Selma Faldalen of Ambrose, North Dakota. She was the youngest of six children and the only daughter, growing up alongside her five brothers, Ole, Oscar, Sid, George, and Severin.

On February 16, 1953, Eunice married Edwin “Ed” Arne Carlstad of Crosby, North Dakota. Together they raised five children and eventually made their home in Chester.

Eunice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who spent her life caring for others. She was known for her incredible work ethic, patience, sense of humor, and love of family. Her home was always welcoming, and visitors could often count on being offered something freshly baked—especially her well-known homemade buns.

After earning her GED in 1962, Eunice worked at Texas Instruments and later at 3M. In Chester, she worked at Coast to Coast before becoming an aide at the Chester grade school, where she especially loved working with the children and receiving their hugs. Eunice continued working until the age of 80.

She enjoyed her Norwegian heritage and treasured traditions such as lefse and Christmas gatherings. She also loved music, card games, jigsaw puzzles, and trips to the Norsk Høstfest in Minot. Above all, Eunice treasured time spent with her family.

For the final eight years of her life, Logan Health-Chester was Eunice’s home, where she was affectionately known as “Uni.” Her family is deeply grateful to the nurses, aides, providers, activity staff, and everyone who cared for and loved her during those years.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Carlstad; her parents, Olaf and Selma Faldalen; and her five brothers, Ole, Oscar, Sid, George, and Severin.

She is survived by her five children: Julane and Carmen Jensen, Jeanette and Sandy Anderson, Janice and Larry Hendrickson, Dale Carlstad, and Darrell Carlstad; eight grandchildren: Christi and Sarah Hendrickson, Tyrel and Tara Hendrickson, Jason and Jaylee Anderson, Doug and Courtney Anderson, David and Melissa Jensen, Michael and Jessica Jensen, Carlane and Tracey Jensen, and Sami Carlstad; and twelve great-grandchildren: Lucas, Rhys, Cameron, Ethan, Alexis, and Skylar Jensen; Kyler, Kyra, Brantley, and Grayson Anderson; and Jozi and Kershaw Hendrickson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Eunice leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, laughter, family, and a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared by those who loved her.
