Ruth Eloise Newman "Eloise" ,74, of Cut Bank, passed away Nov.11, 2018 of natural causes.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church, Nov.23 at 2pm in Cut Bank.
Eloise was born in Cut Bank on October 21,1944 to Eunice (Omsberg) and Ival Rapp. She was married to Fred Franklin Sr from 1960-1971; married James M. Newman in 1975 and later divorced. Her education included an Associates Degree from the Northern Montana University. Eloise and her life partner, John Owen had many years of happiness together until his passing on May 4,2012. Eloise was a waitress and worked as a dispatcher for several years at the Glacier County Sheriff's Office. She enjoyed teaching ceramics in her ceramic shop. Her passion was playing piano at the Nursing home. Her music brought great comfort and enthusiastic entertainment to all she played for. For the last years of her life, she served in her church playing the piano for service and faithfully making sure the Clothes Closet Ministry was always open on Thursdays to provide clothing for those who needed it Eloise loved her grandchildren very much, loved Chinese food and going to the Big Sky Cafe for a bite to eat. Her cats were her pride and joy and always had a unique name for them. Survivors include her daughters, Twila Wahl (Stan), Cut Bank, Mt; Athena(Tina) Eddy (Dan), TX, Elizabeth(Elizz) Newman, Shelby, Mt; step-daughter, Rachelle Meyer(Larry) Melbourne, Australia; sons, Fred Franklin Jr (Danielle Hendrick), Ventura,Ca; Ken(Boynk) Franklin, Aransas Pass,TX and Robert Franklin; Portland,TX. Brothers and sisters include Alan Omsberg and Sheila Baney,Cut Bank, Mt; Lloyd Omsberg and Carla McCauley, Ivanhoe, TX; Norman Omsberg, Katy,TX; Janet Stanger of Boise, ID and Jean Bowman of Twin Falls, ID. Grandchildren include 23 grandchildren,34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Eloise is preceded in death by her partner,John Owen, her parents, Herb and Eunice Omsberg and her father, Ival Rapp and an infant brother, Sonny Rapp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Cut Bank Animal Shelter, 113 East Main, Cut Bank, MT 59427.
