Elizabeth "Liz" Hayes

March 25, 1933 — December 11, 2017

In loving memory of Elizabeth Ann Hayes, born March 2, 1933 in Grand Junction, CO. Liz was very active and loved the mountains in Colorado and Montana. She loved camping, hiking, and fishing. She enjoyed exploring old cabins and digging for old bottles and relics. She always kept her fishing pole and tackle in case she wanted to stop somewhere in her travels. She loved driving to new places.

Liz was also the most artistic and creative person. She painted landscapes and portraits using oils, acrylics and pastels. Charcoals were her latest passion. She knit, crochet, cross-stitched and would sew and quilt. She did ceramics and found her style was Indian pieces. She brought them to life with chalks instead of paints and added her own flare with feathers and beads to make the piece as true to life as possible. She beaded jewelry and had many other talents. She loved going to craft sales all over and loved meeting new people and making friends.

Her traveling companion was a shelter dog named Pappy. Pappy went everywhere with her and she would always say “he thinks he’s people!”

Liz loved her family and always made a big deal when family would visit. She enjoyed kids, grandkids and great-grands. Family always madder her smile and laugh.

Liz had a big heart and would do anything for someone in need, whether it was family, friends, neighbors, or a strangers

She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Dorothy Michels, her son Lloyd Dale Schooley, the love of her life Harry Hayes and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Survivors are her brother John “Jack” Michels and wife Kathy, their children and families, her son Darrel Stanly Schooley and wife Michelle, their children Levi, Dylan and Micaela and their families, her daughter Doreatha Elizabeth Green, her children Christie, Crystal, Carolyn, Lloyd, Courtney, and Cody and their families. Liz has  grandchildren and great-grand children! She also has extended family and all the friends she had made over the years.

Liz passed away December 11, 2017 in Helena.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 16, at 2:00 PM at Pondera Funeral Home.
