January 6, 1935 — January 13, 2013

Edith Marie Lozing, age 78, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Northern Rockies Medical Center in Cut Bank, due to complications related to mesothelioma.

Edith was born to Raymond and Mildred McIntyre in Sommers, Montana, on January 6, 1935. The family lived in Sommers until 1946, and then moved to Sunburst where Ray worked for the Texaco refinery. Edith attended school in Sunburst and enjoyed the small town life.
Edith was blessed with five wonderful children, who all are currently living in Montana. Edith graduated from C & C School of Cosmetology in Kalispell and practiced that trade there. Later moving to Cut Bank in 1973 she worked at Margerette’s Beauty Shop. While attending a St. Patty’s Day celebration in Sweetgrass, Montana, she met the love of her life, Gilbert Lozing. They were married on June 12, 1974. She later opened and operated “Edi’s Beauty Shop” in Cut Bank for many years. In addition, Gilbert and Edith ranched north of Cut Bank where they raised cattle commercially. They were married for 15 years until his passing in 1989.
Edith enjoyed sewing, crafting, baking, canning, and camping with her family. Edith loved ranch life and was an early riser, hard worker, and very independent. Edith was known for her hard work ethics, such as, putting in over 250 fence posts in by herself at age 65 and volunteering for the night shift during calving. She was very matter of fact and her word was as good as a handshake. She loved her coffee and cigarettes in the morning along with her family phone calls. Edith’s love, wisdom and strength will be missed. She was only a phone call away for advice and always enjoyed a good laugh. Edith was a member of the Cowbells and the American Legion Auxiliary and was also a brand inspector for many years.
Edith is survived by her children; Kathleen “Kitty” (Miles) Gillis of Havre, Tina D of North Cut Bank, Dee (Mike) Biegler of Cut Bank, Addie (Gary) Gullickson of Big Sandy, and Peter (Diana) Lozing of Cut Bank. She has 6 grandchildren, Angie, Krystal, Ryle, Samantha, Mariha, and Matt and 4 great grandchildren, Keegan, Keeana, Tristen, and Gabriella. She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis (Don) Harrison of Cocomo, IN, Roberta “Bobby Ann” (Mike) Buckley of Sweetgrass, and Erlene (Robby) Robinson of Polson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mildred McIntyre and her husband, Gilbert Lozing.
