Dawne Lee Stokes

April 3, 1951 — April 10, 2026

Conrad

Dawne Lee Stokes, age 75, passed peacefully with her family by her side on April 10th, 2026. She was born on April 3, 1951 to Richard (Dick) and Marilyn Eckstein of Conrad. She attended Conrad Public Schools and graduated from Conrad High School in 1969. Dawne’s childhood was ideal; riding horseback, swimming, helping at her Dad’s station ‘Dick’s Conoco’, and spending time with her extended family and friends. Up to her passing, she remained very close to many of her childhood friends.

On April 3rd, 1971, Dawne married Dennis Stokes, also of Conrad. Very recently, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Together they raised two sons; Wyatt and Lance, also of Conrad. As a family, they enjoyed trips to Glacier National Park and spending time outdoors. Dawne was famous for her beautiful flowers and meticulous garden full of fresh vegetables followed by pumpkins each Fall. She loved to have an annual pumpkin harvest celebration with all her family and grandkids present. Dawne loved to go for long drives in the country and could recall interesting history throughout Pondera County. As a lifelong member of Pondera Valley Lutheran Church, she was a woman of faith and spirit. Dawne had an interesting way of touching many lives through her devoted spirit and humor. She had a special way of caring for people she loved. The highlight of Dawne’s life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent winters creating beautiful scrapbooks for each and every one of them. Her deep devotion of family will forever live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Kenneth & Lola Riley, parents Dick & Marilyn Eckstein, sister Jeanne Earl, and infant grandson Carson Stokes.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years; Dennis Stokes, sons; Wyatt (Tracy) Stokes, and Lance (Heather) Stokes, grandchildren; Sydney (Trever) Haverkorn, Riley Stokes (& Katie), Madalyne, Kale, & Ella Stokes, and great-grandchildren Holdyn & unborn baby boy Haverkorn.

May your light shine bright forever, Dawne. Until we meet again…
