David Wallace

February 23, 1941 — February 6, 2024

Babb

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of David Carroll Wallace announces that he died peacefully while he slept on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. The angels carried him away to be with Jesus. David was 83 years old.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 12, at 2:00 pm at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby. Visitation will be prior to service starting at 11:00 am.

He was born on February 23, 1941 to Harold and Lillibell Wallace in Venus, TX. David lived a beautiful life. He was humble and kind, always doing things for others out of kindness of his heart without expectations. David was the love, laughter, and light to his family and so many that loved him.

David was a truck driver and dairy farmer by trade. He loved to explore the beautiful USA. David never met a stranger that didn’t love him. He was a hopeless romantic and always made sure his wife had flowers and special trinkets for his kids at home. David never missed an opportunity to call, send greetings, or show love for special days and all the days of their lives. When traveling with his family he always seemed to find the largest and sweetest pancakes in all of Texas!

He enjoyed old westerns, NASCAR, wrestling, and yes, his Dallas Cowboys. When David was home from work travels the house was filled with laughter while he wrestled with the kids. He always gave the best “claw”.

David was a jokester and willing participant to the kid’s silliness. He was an amazing grill master, soup maker, and dancer. David was a great grand parent and personal bus/cab driver while the boys were in school.

In 2003, with his family, became the owner/operator of MT Duck Lake Lodge in Babb. He was a natural host to guests and tourists alike.

He loved the mountains, fresh air, and wildlife. David enjoyed the beauty of God’s country and the simplicity of country living.

David was loved by his community and was proud to call Babb home for 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Pat Moulder and Danny Wallace.

David is survived by the love of his life, Katherine M. Wallace, married September 21, 1962. Together they had three children, Terri (Samuel Dodson) Ocheltree, Pam (Gene) Shawl, and David (Tori) Wallace; grandchildren, Amanda Lee Wallace, Christian Lynn Ford, Taylor Wallace Ford, Jacob Lee Ocheltree; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Travis (Donna) Wallace, Gary Wallace, Phillip (Shirley) Wallace, and John Roy Wallace; sister, Sue (JV) Looper; numerous nieces, nephews, and fur babies.

David loved big and made life sweeter.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, February 23, at his Duck Lake Lodge starting at 1:30pm.
