Danny Ray Gillespie, 69, of Shelby, passed away May 28, 2021, at Peace Hospice, Great Falls.
He was born in Kalispell, June 9, 1951, the oldest of six. They later moved to the family farmhouse Northeast of Kevin. After attending Mountain View Elementary School, Danny graduated from North Toole County High School in Sunburst.
While working various jobs early in his life, Danny volunteered for Toole County Ambulance, writing poetry in his off time at the now closed Husky House Cafe in Shelby.
Later moving to Kalispell, he worked over 30 years for Plum Creek Timber, when he wasn't busy helping others. An avid photographer and naturalist, Danny spent much of his time outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hellen Gillespie, and his wife, Evelyn.
Danny is survived by his stepson, Patrick; grandson, Nathan; stepdaughter, Heather Looney; siblings, Ralph (Linda) Gillespie, Wanda Boswell, Barbara (Gary) Harmon, Joe Gillespie, and Caroline Gillespie; and extended family of friends too numerous to name.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 2, at 2pm at Mountain View Cemetery.
