Charles Ray Harlan Jr. passed away on November 22, 2025, in Great Falls, MT at the age of 92. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Potlatch, ID. Charles lived a long and active life marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for family, friends and golf.

He graduated from high school in 1951 (class of 9) in Garfield, WA. He then joined the United States Army. He served two years as a military police officer, mainly stationed in Minneapolis. After his honorable service, Charles pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree in Police Science from Washington State University.

Charles began his career with the U.S. Border Patrol in 1960. His assignments took him to El Centro, CA; Portal, ND; and ultimately Sweetgrass, MT where he retired in 1983 at the age of 50. He was a member of the American Legion for 67 years. Charles was also chairman of the Sunburst school board for several years.

His hobbies included coin collecting, leather working, finding artifacts, rock hounding, bird watching, photography, online puzzles and reading.

On September 16, 1955, Charles married his high school sweetheart, Rose Marie Perkins, in Garfield, WA. They were married for 70 years! Together they raised two daughters: Christie Mount (Michael) and Rona Costa (Don). He was also a proud grandfather to Shane Mount and Sierra Credell. Charles was also a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren.

In retirement, Charles founded C by C (Cabinets by Chuck), channeling his craftsmanship into woodworking. He was a passionate golfer (handicap 7) achieving EIGHT holes-in-one! He played regularly until the age of 90. Charles and Rose Marie spent 40 winters at their park home in Mesa, AZ where he was in charge of the Hummer golf group. He also excelled in bowling and pistol shooting, earning numerous trophies. Whether on the green, at the lanes, or at the range, Charles brought focus and joy to every endeavor.

The Funeral Service will be held on December 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Sunburst Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sunburst Senior Center, Box 156, Sunburst, MT 59482.

Charles's life was one of quiet accomplishment and enduring passion. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
