Caroline Matilda (Suckow) Hall, 102, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 7, at 1:30pm at Grace Calvary Church in Rudyard.
She was born Sept 17, 1917 to Alfred and Louie Suckow. She graduated from Rudyard High School on 1934 and went to Northern Montana College to get her teaching degree. Caroline was teaching at Swans School when she met James Hall. They were married October 27, 1938. Together they had three children; Katherine Lorraine born November 20, 1939, Karen Lorretta born March 11, 1941, and Jim Jr. born August 20, 1945. Caroline taught at six different country schools before teaching for Chester Public Schools. She retired but then returned to teaching in Haiti, Rocky Boy, Indonesia, and finally Sage Creek Colony. Caroline never lost her love for teaching. Just four years ago Cool Springs needed a teacher and Caroline wanted to apply. She couldn’t see or hear well but thought she could teach if she had help. Her family did not encourage her to apply.
Caroline attended and played the piano at Grace Calvary Church for many years. The highlight of her life was her family and the students that she taught through the years. For the last 20 years Caroline lived alone on the family farm until her 102th birthday when she was unable to care for herself. Her daughters, Karen and Kathy then took care of her until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; husband; 2 grandsons; a great grandson; and a son-in-law.
Survivors include children, Kathy Heinrich, Karen Kultgen, and Jim Hall and their spouses; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren.
Caroline spent many hours praying and her greatest goal in life was to go to heaven and take as many people with her as possible!
