Carol R. Mundt

January 22, 1948 — November 1, 2019

Shelby

Carol Rae Mundt, 71, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin, and friend joined the Saints Triumphant on All Saints Day, November 1, 2019, in Great Falls peacefully and quietly after fighting a most courageous battle against many medical odds.

Memorial services will be Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 PM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

Carol was born in Great Falls on January 22, 1948 to Walter E. and Verna E. Mundt.  She ruled the roost with her brother, Charles born 1946, until Don was born in 1952, Gordon was born in 1955, and Lila was born in 1959, arrived. Carol began her school studies in the Bitterroot Elementary School and showed her budding resourcefulness by bringing her teacher 2 small spoons when asked to get one large one that she couldn’t find.

Carol was involved with many school activities all twelve years including clubs, band, choir, and many small ensembles.  She graduated from Shelby High School in 1966. She was an official member of the “Chicks of ‘66”. That group has met monthly over the years where she served as treasurer.

Carol was a true friend, co-worker, and servant of her community.  She didn’t want to fully retire and worked part-time these past 2 years until Monday, August 5, 2019.  Previous to that, she worked full time with her loving work family at MCR. Before that she worked at the Tastee Freez and Fulton Fuel Company.

Carol served so many and did so much. With the help of her friends we are trying to mention as many as we remember: Friends of the Library treasurer, Toole County Marias Museum board member and treasurer, Prairie Oasis Pet Shelter member, Toole County Business and Professional Women (BPW) member, Sage Brush Food Pantry treasurer, Toole County Community Theatre board member, treasurer, and makeup artist, Community Concert Association member, Montana Institute of the Arts (MIA) member, and the Community Choir.  Carol loved attending the Great Falls and Bozeman Symphonies, reading, gardening, and traveling.

Carol was highly devoted to the Lord through the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.  She held many offices and was involved in Women’s Circle, bible studies, Cluster Group, Lutheran World Relief, the church choir, President of the Congregation, and many different committees.

Carol was a devoted aunt and friend. She never forgot any of her “kid’s” (nieces, nephews) and friend’s birthdays, anniversaries, or special days.

Carol was the co-founder of the group, SWEET. For over 20 years SWEET was a support group for friends that meet and eat together every possible Thursday.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents; and favorite brother-in-law, Paul J. Cebulla.

Survivors include brother and family, Walter Charles (Angie) Mundt of Sterling, VA; niece, Susana (Jason) Colvin; nephew, Kevin (Amanda) Colvin; great nephew and nieces, Andrew Fisher, Addison and Paige, Jacob and Joshua (Colvin), Marielena (Neyna) Mundt, all of Virginia and West Virginia; brother and family, Don H. Mundt of Missoula; niece, Melissa (Kevin Krumweide) Mundt; great nephew, August and Arthur of Tuscon, AZ; brother and family,  Gordon B and wife Chris (Steadman) Mundt; nephew, Soren and wife Valeriya Mundt; great nephew and nieces, Emil Gasanov,  Eva and Sonia Mundt; nephews, Bradley W.
