Bruce Macdonald

Bruce Macdonald, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Cut Bank, Montana, at the age of 91.

Born on April 2, 1934, in Ontario, California, Bruce was the son of Allen Robert and Susanna (Leggate) Macdonald. He lived a life marked by hard work, sharp wit, and an unwavering kindness that touched everyone who knew him.

Bruce married the love of his life, Lynn Diane Shaw, on December 28, 1988, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they built a life full of adventure and laughter while they camped in Montana and Canada and quiet moments fishing at Willowcreek Arm Reservoir off Tiber Dam Lake—a favorite pastime they cherished together.

Bruce had a long and successful career as a manager for Syncrude, a major oil company in Alberta. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate several businesses throughout his life, including antique stores, gas stations, and most notably the East Town Pump in Cut Bank, which he ran for 16 years. He was personally involved in every aspect of the business, including buying and selling fuel for the station.

Outside of work, Bruce was a professional gambler who made a name for himself in the blackjack circles of Las Vegas and Jackpot, Nevada. Among his many accomplishments at the table, he proudly took third place in a major Las Vegas Blackjack tournament.

He is survived by his devoted wife Lynn, his sons Darren and Jody, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his son Jason; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Those who knew Bruce will remember his integrity, generosity, and the warmth he extended to everyone he met. He was good and kind to all—a true gentleman whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
