Barry C. Beckedahl

March 11, 1936 — July 14, 2017

Barry Carl Beckedahl, 81, of Shelby, passed away Friday, July 14th surrounded by his family.  Barry was born March 11, 1936 on the family farm near Sherwood, North Dakota, to Carl and Ada (Walton) Beckedahl.  While attending high school in Sherwood, Barry met the love of his life, Arlene Armstrong, at the Minot State Fair.  Three years later, on August 28th, 1956, they married in Mohall, North Dakota.  They were blessed with three children, Mark, Terri, and Lori. In 1961, they moved the family to Shelby where Barry worked in the oilfield and became a drilling superintendent. One of his favorite hobbies was snowmobiling, and he was a member of the Summit Snowgoers, which allowed him to create fond memories with friends and family near Snowslip and West Yellowstone.  Barry also enjoyed fishing at Tiber, camping with family, enjoying coffee with friends, and was known by his loved ones as a master “tinkerer” in his garage.

Barry is survived by his wife, Arlene (Armstrong) Beckedahl, son, Mark (Meredith) Beckedahl, daughter, Lori (Patrick) Christiaens, four grandchildren, Theresa (Yong) Taing, Robin (Abby) Christiaens, Marie (Tyler) Judisch, and Emily Christiaens (Lucas Brauchle), and great-granddaughter, Mia Judisch.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Betty Erikson and Carol Sims, and daughter, Terri Beckedahl.

Memorial services will be Thursday, July 20, at 11:00AM at United Methodist Church in Shelby. Burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery with a reception following at church.
