Arnold Jeppesen

February 17, 1923 — May 18, 2012

Arnold I. Jeppesen, 89, died Friday (May 18) at Marias Medical Center in Shelby. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Rev. John Allen officiating; committal will be at Mountain View Cemetery with a reception following at the church. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and until noon Wednesday at the Whitted Funeral Chapel.
Arnold was born February 17, 1923 in his grandmother’s homestead shack near Grandview, Montana to Ingolf and Magnild (Forseth) Jeppesen and was raised on a farm north of Chester. He attended grade school at the Wickum School, a small country school located 2 miles north of where he lived and later attended and graduated from Chester High School. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Lothair.
Arnold continued to live and work on the family farm until 1970 when he and his brother Harris sold the farm and purchased a dairy farm near Charlo, Montana. He resided there until moving to Shelby in 1989 to care for his mother. He remained at his home in Shelby until selling it in 2010 and moving into the Heritage Center, an assisted living facility, where he remained until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents and his brother Harris. He is survived by his brothers, Randolph Jeppesen and wife Rose of Missoula; and Marvin Jeppesen and wife Sandy of Shelby as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials in Arnold’s memory may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 222 2nd Ave. S., Shelby, MT 59474.
