Arlene Marie (Armstrong) Beckedahl, 85, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, October 17th. Arlene was born June 12th, 1938 in Minot, North Dakota, to Arlo and Marie (Nelson) Armstrong. The family lived in Mohall ND where they owned and operated a Gambles Store. Arlene attended school in Mohall, graduating in 1956. She met Barry Beckedahl at the Minot State Fair, three years later they married August 28th, 1956. Barry and Arlene were blessed with three children, Mark, Terri, and Lori. In 1961 the family moved to Shelby.

Arlene was a wonderful cook and baker, she also enjoyed bowling, cards, snowmobiling, and vacations with family. She worked at Hardware Hank then Wells Drug until retirement. Most of all she loved her family and grandchildren, attending almost every event- the kids could always count on grandpa and grandma sitting in section B at the SHS gymnasium, cheering them on. Arlene enjoyed her almost daily visits from Mark or Merry at the heritage center, she loved a good milkshake or an iced coffee.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Terri; and sister-in-law, Barb Armstrong. She is survived by her son, Mark (Meredith) Beckedahl; daughter, Lori (Patrick) Christiaens and their children, Theresa Leary of Brooklyn, Robin (Abby) and their boys, Arlo and Blaine, of Roundup, Marie (Tyler) Judisch and their girls, Mia and Lyla, of Ledger, and Emily (Lucas) Brauchle and their daughter, Evelyn, of Jacksonville; and Arlene’s brother, David Armstrong and family, of Minot.

Graveside services will be held at a future date.
