Annie Schlosser, 61, of Conrad, was born LouAnna Drogemuller and grew up near Caledonia, MN amid the beautiful bluffs and hardwood forests. Growing up she spent time during her summers traveling with her aunt and uncle. She visited every state west of the Mississippi with them! After high school she dreamed of returning to the west and spent a brief time waitressing in the Black Hills of South Dakota and then in Winter Park, Colorado. After that Annie returned to Minnesota to attend the prestigious Saint Mary's School of Nursing, run by the Mayo Clinic. It was an intensive 2-year program where she earned her LPN. While there she received the Edith Mayo Graham Award for outstanding kindness to patients. That should come as no surprise to anyone who experienced her care during her 36-year career as a nurse! Half of her career (18 years) was spent working in Conrad for Dr. Meyer, a job she truly loved. After that she worked in Great Falls, Conrad, and Shelby and ended her career back in Conrad working at Dr. Stewart's Clinic. She loved each one of her patients and her kindness and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her.
After receiving her nursing license, Annie continued out west with the dream of making her way to Alaska. She was lured into Conrad, Montana with pictures of Glacier National Park and a claim that it was just a short drive away. She accepted a nursing job here over the telephone and was in for quite the surprise of finding herself on the prairie! She eventually overcame the lack of trees and fell in love with the beauty here. It was in Conrad where she met her husband, Roger.
Being a caretaker was always Annie's calling and she loved being a mom more than anything. Roger and Annie raised four children- Alanna, Jacob, Scott, and Luke, and in 2004 they became foster parents. Over a 15-year span they took in more children than can be counted. Annie hoped and believed with all her heart that the love she provided would help carry kids through their darkest moments. In 2018 Roger and Annie became official parents again, to Isaac and Hope. Annie was so incredibly proud of each of her kids and was so excited to become a grandma. She absolutely adored her grandchildren. Annie instilled the value that family is everything and welcomed everyone into her family.
Many of Annie's fondest memories involved traveling for sports. She loved watching her youngest brother wrestle growing up and she was an avid wrestling fan before meeting Roger. She got her boys into the sport at the first opportunity. Wrestling meets were where most people got to see her fiery side! She was a wrestling mom through and through! No matter the activity- wrestling, piano, baseball, or FFA, she gave her full support and taught her kids that you put your all into it. She saw peoples' strengths and potential and spoke life into them. She changed lives that way.
Annie also enjoyed spending time in the mountains. She loved to get away and go camping. Willow Creek and Blackleaf were always favorites. Although she didn't do a lot of hunting (in a family of avid hunters), she always dreamed of shooting a giant blackbear. It began when she was 3 years old when she got to sit on her neighbor's bear rug. That dream came true in 2013 with her son Luke. It's still the largest black bear we know of to be taken on the front. She was so proud of it and loved to tell the story!
Annie is dearly missed by all. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Judith Drogemuller and her brothers, Preston and Wayne Drogemuller. She is survived by her brothers, Lee and Peter (Julie) Drogemuller; her husband, Roger Schlosser; children, Alanna (Guthrie) Oiestad, Jacob (Randi) Schlosser, Scott (Ciadie) Schlosser, Luke Schlosser, Isaac Mattson, and Hope Lamere; and her grandchildren, Kimber, Wesley, Haakon, Clint, Jack, Markus, Leah, Kate, and Jordan.
