Allen James Wittmier, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Allen was born on July 17, 1935 to Chris and Lena Wittmier at the family home north of Conrad. He was the12th of 13 children. Allen attended the Little School until it closed and then attended the Conrad Public schools until he turned 16 and went directly into the work force. On April 17, 1955, Allen married the love of his life, Dolores Sanders. They were married for 69 years.
In 1961, Allen moved his family to Washington, immediately going to work for Shaub Elison changing tires on large machinery. The family lived in Tacoma and Puyallup before moving back to Conrad in 1965.
Allen ran the Exxon Service Station from 1965 to 1978. He went to work for Wright Motors and after that for Twin Service until he retired. He was a substitute rural mail carrier as well.
Allen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Conrad, Pondera Lodge #80, Pondera Chapter #21 Royal Arch Masons, Cut Bank Council #41 Cryptic Masons, Golden West Commandery #24 Knights Templar, Victory Chapter #86 0ES, and a member of the Pondera County Search & Rescue for many years.
Allen was passionate about family, music, woodworking, camping, and his yard work. He played guitar with his brothers and was a member of several local music groups - the Country Boys, 3 & 1 Company, and The Group. Getting together with family and friends for jam sessions was his greatest joy.
Alien is survived by his children; Karla Wittmier of Conrad, Janet Wittmier of Billings, Elin (Kenn) Hohman of Conrad, and Matthew (Pamela) Wittmier of Conrad; 7 grandchildren, Brittnee, Sara (Jonathan) Thiebaud, Michaela, Annabell, Cordell, Asa, and Ethan; 3 great grandchildren, Grace, Shale, and Opal; his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents, Chris and Lena; brothers, Vernon, Elmer, Daniel, and Junior; sisters, Alice, Violet, Minnie, Adah, Helen, Delores, Donna and Esther.
Memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Community Cancer Foundation, Great Falls Rescue Mission, Pondera Food Pantry, or charity of your choice.
